Research about IVROs

The GECAT project also includes a rigorous research component which studies GECAT projects to evaluate the effectiveness of the International Virtual Research Organizations (IVROs) that are established and recommending actions that can be taken to increase their effectiveness. This work will include the following framework for the research and evaluation of the IVROs:

  1. The review and integration of current knowledge on factors (organizational structures, management practices, technology, etc.) that promote effective international research collaborations and IVROs.
  2. Assessment of the current and emerging organizational structures, management practices, and technological support configurations in GECAT collaborations in terms of how effective they are at promoting the GECAT activities and how they might be used by other IVROs to improve their collaborations.
  3. Disseminate the findings from #1 and #2 to GECAT IVROs and to the larger community of large scale international collaborative science.
